Today's Thesis: Tariff rates jump Friday, the worst flying weekend of the summer just ended, three more Americans died in the Iran war, your 401(k) had its worst week in months, and home insurance premiums are up 46% in five years.

Take a look at this…

It's a radical "light-speed" device that's turning AI as we know it into "Accelerated AI", making it 100 times faster and 100 times more energy efficient.

In fact, Jensen Huang, Nvidia's founder and CEO, says this device is shattering the limitations of AI and without it, AI can't scale.

If you want to discover what this technology is, why Nvidia is betting billions on it…

And the one stock we believe could be the biggest winner when "Accelerated AI" goes mainstream…

1
Your wallet 10% → 12.5% on imports starting Friday
A tariff decision drops today. Prices follow Friday.
USTR is expected to finalize 12.5% Section 301 duties on 46 countries this week. If approved, the new rate replaces the expiring 10% tariff starting Friday. Goods from China, Vietnam, India, Japan, and South Korea all get pricier by week's end. Separately, a 25% tariff on most Brazilian imports kicks in Tuesday — covering sugar, apparel, and paper, while exempting coffee and beef. Beef is already up 14%, coffee up 20%, and tomatoes up 40% from a year ago — and the new rates won't help.
The other side: The 10% rate was always temporary, and 12.5% is far below the 20–46% IEEPA tariffs the Supreme Court struck down in February.

Travel 1,119 cancellations + 4,894 delays Saturday
The worst flying weekend of the summer just ended
Saturday was the worst air travel day of the summer — 1,119 flights cancelled and nearly 5,000 delayed as storms swept from the Mid-Atlantic through the Carolinas. LaGuardia and JFK accounted for almost half of all US cancellations, while Atlanta and Newark led in delays. More severe weather is expected through Tuesday, and crews and planes are still out of position from the weekend. If you're flying early this week, build in extra time.
The other side: Summer storms cause disruptions every July — airlines typically recover schedules within 24–48 hours, and monthly cancellation rates are still in the low single digits.

Your vote 17 US service members killed
Three more Americans died in the Iran war this weekend
Two service members were killed Saturday when an Iranian missile hit a US base in Jordan. A third was confirmed dead Sunday after remains were found near the same site. That brings US deaths to 17 since the conflict started, all in what the Pentagon calls a war fought mostly from the air. Oil surged last week on the escalation, pushing gas past $3.94 a gallon and still climbing.
The other side: Seventeen deaths in a conflict fought mostly from the air is historically low — the administration says strikes are degrading Iran's ability to threaten Gulf shipping.

Markets Nasdaq -2.9% in one week
Your 401(k) just had its worst week in months
The S&P 500 fell 1.6% last week and the Nasdaq dropped 2.9%. Chipmakers led the damage as fears grew that AI spending may be slowing, and the Iran war added fresh uncertainty. The VIX spiked to its highest level since May.
The other side: Major chipmakers are still well above their January prices — several analysts call this profit-taking, not a trend reversal.
5
Your home Premiums up 46% since 2021
Your home insurance bill is climbing three times faster than inflation
Home insurance premiums are up 46% since 2021 — three times the rate of inflation — and last week's wildfire smoke covering 17 states is exactly the kind of event that keeps insurers repricing. The average annual premium is now $3,057, and nearly three in ten homeowners told Insurify they'd drop coverage if they could.
The other side: A quiet 2025 hurricane season slowed premium growth, and most regions are seeing increases under 10% this year.
